A Week to Hack!

This week, my school was oh-so-generous to give me the week off. Seeing as a trip somewhere warm was too expensive, I get the entire week to code! Needless to say, I’m pretty stoked, and can’t wait to get started. I think that I will focus on kernel hacking as well as becoming an Ubuntu MOTU (Ubuntu Developers). I’ve got about a hundred more pages in the linux kernel development book I bought two weeks ago, and then I will sit down and start to finally start to code. Ideally, this week I can eliminate a bug in the kernel and get a few lines of code in the main source tree. Realistically, I will write some creative code and modifications to the kernel so that I gain a good understanding of the kernel and how to develop effectively for it. As far as my attempts to become a Ubuntu developer, this week I plan on contributing to the 5 a day bug fixing campaign as well as learn about Debian packaging more and fix up some sub-par packages  that I had submitted in my 1st attempt to contribute. I’m tentatively shooting for MOTU status before the end of the semester. Wish me luck, and happy hacking!
